Colorado Rural Mobile Health Project (CRMHP)
North Colorado Health Alliance (NCHA) represents a formal partnership of not-for-profit organizations and government entities whose mission is that all underserved residents of Northeast Colorado have access to appropriate, affordable, comprehensive, and quality healthcare. Partners include the Weld County Health Department, Sunrise Community Health Center, and North Range Behavioral Health. NCHA has a mobile unit staffed with paid staff and volunteers that provides services around Weld County including checkups, pap smears, screenings, and primary care to people living in rural areas. Two grants were awarded. The first grant provided funds to conduct a survey of women in order to identify barriers to cancer screening; to develop educational materials to promote breast and cervical cancer screening; to provide prostate screening for low-income, uninsured men ages 50 and older; and to host “pláticas” – discussion groups with a health educator about breast health. The other grant provided funds to perform diagnostic and repair services on the mobile unit; purchase a permanent covered shelter for the unit; and to purchase medical equipment – photo scanner, glucose meter and supplies, and portable centrifuge. North Colorado Health Alliance received $14,738.00
