In June 2005, Pikes Peak Regional Medical Center, in Woodland Park, CO, received a $500 Seed Grant to help conduct a Health Needs Assessment Survey. This survey was conducted in an effort to better understand the health needs of the residents in Teller County and also to help in the creation of the new Pikes Peak Regional Hospital. The results of the survey helped the medical center in many ways. The center was able to gain a more comprehensive idea of the health needs of Teller County, gather information required by funding organizations, and greet and inform the community of its efforts. Pikes Peak Regional Medical Center Association and Foundation Executive Director Bob Harvey expressed great pleasure in receiving the Seed Grant; “The availability of the Colorado Rural Health Seed Grant was a major motivating factor in launching this effort and we can’t begin to explain the credibility that the phrase ‘This survey is partially funded through the Colorado Rural Health Center’ has created.” Pikes Peak Regional Hospital held its groundbreaking ceremony on April 21, 2006 and hopes to be completed in the next several years.
