Summer Healthcare Immersion Program

Eastern Plains Medical Clinic, in Calhan, received a $500 Seed Grant in May 2005 to supplement their summer healthcare immersion internship program. The program introduces a high school senior interested in the medical field to the healthcare profession. The intern will assist the clinic in a many ways, including assisting low-income patients with patient assistance programs, performing vital statistics, performing laboratory controls, stocking medical rooms, and communicating with other facilities. This seed grant money helped the clinic to supplement the internship wages of Kody Seeley, a senior at Calhan High School. Kody hopes to pursue a career in the medical field and gain practical and professional medical experience through this summer internship.
