The Colorado Rural Health Center strives to educate rural and urban
individuals, organizations and policy-makers about important rural health
issues through the creation of issue papers, fact
sheets, maps and other publications.
The following issue papers were developed by the Colorado Rural
Health Center
and its statewide Rural Health Council as a means to educate others
about key rural healthcare issues in Colorado. Each of these 1-2 page
documents contain a description of the rural health problem, background
information, and recommendations toward a solution. Below is a listing
of issue papers that the Rural Health
Council has created to date: back to top
CRHC creates following fact sheets to provide basic information on specific

CEO Turnover
Study: A
report stating that the CEO turnover rate among hospitals nationally
in 2001 had decreased slightly to 15% although the CEO turnover
rate for Colorado's 38 hospitals for 2001 was over 40% led to an examination of the factors that might contribute
to this extraordinarily high turnover rate.
Am I Rural?: Defining what is rural and what is urban can be confusing with the
various definitions by different government agencies. The Center
provides a document that can help explain the definition of rurality
in Colorado. Also, see the new Am I Rural? tool on the Rural Assistance Center's website!

"Rural Is..." Book
Support the Colorado Rural Health Center and purchase your very
own "Rural Is " book! The "Rural Is "
book is a collection of real rural definitions such as, "You
probably live in a rural area if you dial the wrong number and you
still know the person who answers." Or "It's a rural area
if the skyscrapers are all white and have COOP written on them."
Developed in 1996 as a fundraiser for CRHC, this book has been
used to embellish speeches, presentations, and even websites. We
encourage you to use one of these clever definitions in your next
presentation or purchase a book as a gift or stocking stuffer for
your favorite guy or gal.
"Rural Is " books are only $10 and all proceeds
benefit the Colorado Rural Health Center, Colorado's non-profit office of rural
health.
CRHC thanks COPIC Companies for all they do for rural Colorado
