CEO Turnover
Study
The American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) released a
report stating that the CEO turnover rate among hospitals nationally
in 2001 had decreased slightly to 15% although the CEO turnover
rate for Colorado's 38 hospitals for 2001 was over 40%. This high
turnover can only exacerbate an already fragile rural health infrastructure. The
Colorado Rural Health Center worked with the Colorado Health and
Hospital Association to examine the factors that might contribute
to this extraordinarily high turnover rate.
Am I Rural?

Long Term Care Facilities - December 2003
We know that our rural nursing homes or long-term care (LTC) facilities are struggling. We wanted to know why. In December 2003, we held a meeting in Hugo, Colorado and invited representatives from LTC facilities in the area to participate and teach us about their facilities, their patients, and the challenging environment in which they work. This paper describes what they taught us and offers a few suggestions for beginning to address some of those challenges.

"Rural Is..." Book
Support the Colorado Rural Health Center and purchase your very
own "Rural Is
" book! The "Rural Is
"
book is a collection of real rural definitions such as, "You
probably live in a rural area if you dial the wrong number and you
still know the person who answers." Or "It's a rural area
if the skyscrapers are all white and have COOP written on them."
Developed in 1996 as a fundraiser for CRHC, this book has been
used to embellish speeches, presentations, and even websites. We
encourage you to use one of these clever definitions in your next
presentation or purchase a book as a gift or stocking stuffer for
your favorite guy or gal.
"Rural Is
" books are only $10 and all proceeds

CRHC thanks COPIC Companies for all they do for rural Colorado
