There are several scholarship and loan repayment programs available in Colorado. Scholarship Programs
Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Health Professions Scholarship Program
This program is administered by the Central Colorado AHEC and provides tuition to graduate level health professional students in exchange for a service commitment once program is completed.
Marva Jean Jackson (MJJ) Rural Community Health Scholarships
The MJJ Scholarship program supports rural "grow your own" efforts. It offers grants of up to $1,000 in matching dollars for a rural community member’s tuition to healthcare professional school, training program or continuing education course.
National Health Service Corps (NHSC)
NHSC’s scholarship program provides tuition for up to two to four years of medical school or other eligible healthcare professional training programs in exchange for a service commitment once program is completed.
Loan Repayment Programs
National Health Service Corps (NHSC)
NHSC is administered by the US Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and offers financial support to primary care providers. NHSC’s loan repayment program provides up to $30,000 in exchange for a service commitment.
Colorado Health Service Corps (CHSC)
CHSC is administered by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Primary Care Office (PCO) and offers generous student loan repayment in exchange for service at clinics serving Coloradoans in greatest need.
Faculty Loan Repayment Program
This program is administered by HRSA and offers loan repayment to health professions faculty from disadvantaged backgrounds up to $40,000 in exchange for a service commitment at an accredited health professions university.
Nurse Corps
Nurse Corps is administered by HRSA and offers loan repayment to nurses of up to 60% of their loan debt for their commitment to caring for the underserved in exchange for a service obligation.
