Community Needs Assessment and Community Action Planning
Colorado STRIDES offers, either independently, or in conjunction with other organizations, such as the Office of Economic Development and International Trade and Downtown Colorado, Inc, Community Needs Assessment and Community Action Planning associated with Health, Healthcare, and Healthy Living.
Typically, our approach involves three visits. The first visit involves performing a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) Analysis and set of recommendations based on direct observation; input from focus groups and public meetings we convene; and secondary research findings regarding local economics, demographics, health indicator and health outcomes. The second visit takes place roughly one month after the first, and consists of a public meeting, where we share the SWOT analysis with the audience and then facilitate a Community Action Planning session, designed to engage residents in identifying issues they feel are important and in developing solutions in which they want to participate. The final visit takes place roughly ten months after the first, and is designed to celebrate the successes achieved, and to talk about next steps.
While this process can be tailored to some degree by the organizations inviting Colorado STRIDES into the community, its strength lies in its organic nature and flexibility to let community members direct where the conversation goes, with Colorado STRIDES providing the structure within which the conversation takes place.
Costs of services vary, depending on services requested, population, size and geography of community, and scholarship availability.
